Holley Sniper spacer

I Installed a Holley Sniper on my new 331 set up I used the performer 289 dual plane intake it’s running great the ecu is on the the throttle body so I want to install the eldebrok gasket that 1/2 thick to keep the heat down on the throttle body it may not be a problem but I don’t think it will hurt I have a new one with the middle of the gasket in place that matches the intake and the old one have I took off the carb with the middle cut out mimicking the Performer Rpm air Gap intake thoughts on which one I should try

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

I'd just cut a spacer out of some phenolic and run paper gaskets on either side.

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

I guess my question is open spacer on a dual plane or dual plan spacer on a dual plane I never ran dual plane intakes only single plane intakes but they were not going on a 3k road trip lol

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

Coupe, go to the Holley forum and post your question. Great support for the sniper efi set up...someone there will know for sure.

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

I would stick with an open spacer. Supposedly, it helps with fuel distribution.

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

My point was that those Edelbrock spacer gaskets aren't impressive IMO.  If dead set on using one I'd use whatever matches the intake, but make sure you aren't covering any vacuum passages, etc. with your choice.

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

With the efi setup, I would think the open spacer would help at hi rpm.  You already have low rpm covered with the dual plane intake right now. The computer is going to adjust as needed anyway to your settings.

I would definitely go with a non metal spacer to isolate heat from your computer in the throttle body assembly.
Between the air flowing through it and spacer isolation, should help protect your ecm.

I know with a 3/8” heat isolator spacer with same intake and 1406 carb, it definitely helped in 90+ degree weather for me.

Can’t wait to see it live...not Memorex.😄

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

I vote for the open spacer instead of the 4-holer. Think of a big tunnel ram intake with the plenum under the carbs. Carbs send the vaporized fuel/air mixture into the plenum where each cylinder "grabs" its portion.
That's how I THINK the plenum set-up works?!!
Here's a good example of plenums and tunnel ram runners.

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

I run the exact setup you are inquiring about and have tried both 1/2" spacers. With the open spacer, I developed the annoying whistle you've probably read about. Holley tech told me to run the 4 hole and my 302 loves it.

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

Run a 4 hole spacer(phenolic) works great with the sniper. The unit is much more cooler then without. Remember that the ECU is mounted in the front section. Ive toasted one after the Engine compartment Went to hot one summer when cruising. I have a friend that had exactly the same problem. When the sniper works, it works great when it starts to fail its terrible :-)

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

My combo didn’t like the 4 hole spacer I can’t tell you what the problem is but I added a 1/4 plabonic spacer for a dual plane intake that  keeps it cool and it runs better then before maybe it’s my cam Trick flow stage 2 331 cubic inches  Performer Rpm Heads with 2.02 valves a performer 289 intake may be the problem but has plenty of unusable Horsepower any way so I am calling it great T 5 Z with 3.73 on to the next phase of the car lol the 5.0 liter roller needed the 3.73 to play but this engine doesn’t not still cruises 75 about 2300 Rpms I would Like it lower it but only takes 20 hr bash trips once a year may still try and make it Myrtle Beach sometime this year

Re: Holley Sniper spacer

It does but it makes me wonder is something wrong and the ECU is compesatating or is every combo really that different. The air fuel ratio are good the vehicle runs great Forum guys say 4 hole  one article says open spacer one article say dual plane intakes are not good “Education is not the remembering of facts but to make you think” Albert Einstein ! I will figure it out lol In the Bayou when the snake shows his head cut it off 😂 my Grandfather !
