    Rear End Swap

    Ive got a  8" open rear end with 2.80 gears out of a 70 in my 67 coupe.

    Ive also got an 8" open rear end with 2.80 gears out of a 64.5.

    Im thinking about putting the narrower 64.5 rear end in my 67 so I can get a better wheel fit with a 15x7 TTD with 3.75 BS.

    I would run a 15x6 with 3.66 BS on the front with a 215-65-15 tire and the 15x7 with 3.75 BS and a 235-60-15 tire on the rear.  Track width would be less than .25" difference and both tires are 26 inches tall.

    Im planning on 4.5 leaf mid-eyes and the Arning drop with either GT springs or CPP coilovers.

    Good plan on the rear end swap or should I keep the 70 rear end and run a narrower tire or a 15x6 on the rear?

    I dont want to roll fenders and I dont want to rub tires turning or bouncing.

    The TTD is really the only wheel I like on a 65-68 and the choices are 15x7 3.75 BS or 15x8 4.5 BS.

    You can run a 15x7 on your front with ease.  I did when I had 15" wheels, but I can't remember the BS.
    I ran 225-50x15 on my '66 with the arning drop and 1" lower GT springs.
    15x8's 4.5" BS may not fit in your 67

    I did the same thing on my 68 coupe. The narrower 64-1/2 to 66 rear is a perfect swap.  I ran 17x8 wheels with 245x45-17 tires and 4.5” backspacing. Fit perfect!  Probably could have gone with a 9” wheel and stll fit. 
    Backspacing is key dimension.  Get it wrong and you will have problems.  Also, a 15” tire will have a wider side bulge, but it is workable.

    Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

    The '64.5 rear end is 2" narrower than the '67-'70 rear end so you will have 1" on each side to play with.
    Remember that the '64.5-'66 rear end housing tapers down to a smaller OD at the ends so it will require different u-bolts and shock plates from the '67-'70 rear ends.
