Cobra bracket orientation : big bearing Versailles

I am getting ready to press the bearings in on my axles and I know the groove side of the bracket faces in towards the center section. Other than the groove facing inward does it matter which bracket goes on either side?  Both brackets bolt holes line up with the Versailles housing flange bolt holes leaving the brackets angled up slightly whichever side I put them on.  Am I missing anything or with this rear do I just need to make sure the groove faces inward and thats all?  Thanks

Re: Cobra bracket orientation : big bearing Versailles

It does Not matter.  But that only applies to the Versailles housing, which has the bolt pattern already angled upwards to orient the calipers at an angle.  There are three different patterns on the MS brackets.

Other housings with horizontal bolt patterns require the brackets oriented to position the calipers upward and to the rear of the axle.

Thanks Steve.  Two more questions.  I got Moser 31 spline axles for my rearend.  I'm using 2003 Cobra brakes, does this brake conversion use the same 1/2 x 20 factory length axle wheel studs that came with the Versailles rear or do I need longer? Also, just stock 3/8 factory t bolts are used to mount the axles to the rear? I misplaced mine and need to find some new ones.  Thanks for all your help.  Mike

Re: Cobra bracket orientation : big bearing Versailles

Versailles rear had 1/2” T-bolts  Stock ones work great.

I prefer longer wheel studs like Dorman 610-441. Mike has them at MustangSteve.
