Ignition timing spout

The spout connector had been cut from my wiring harness and I need to connect it back in. I see that the spout will only fit one way round in the connector although both wires seem to be the same colour. Can I assume that it just connects either way into the harness? Doesn't seem to be any resistance in it whichever way I test it.

Re: Ignition timing spout

We need more details.  The Connector tor to WHAT?  What year, engine, etc?

This is the Spark Output (SPOUT)?  If so I don't think it matters

Re: Ignition timing spout

Yes Graham, the SPOUT connector simply interrupts the spark output signal to the PCM.  The plug is just completing that circuit...doesn't matter which way it is connected.

Re: Ignition timing spout

Don't worry about what MS says here.  The only spout he knows about is the one on the beer cooler in his new Man Cave.

Re: Ignition timing spout

No, it doesn't matter.  Some years they just had a male/female spade connection for the spout.  If you want the actual connector deal you can buy it new and splice it in.  LMR sells them:

As already mentioned it’s just a jumper.

If yours has been cut off and missing, this is my suggestion.

Instead of using the early style that  removes completely and falls on ground and lands in the sewer drain😁,  use the “two piece “ spout connector on the later models.

Looks similar to the inline fuse holders.
This way, the two parts won’t get lost in your gravel driveway too.

If you decide to use the square connector, drill a small hole in the pull tab and attach a tether or zip tie it around wire harness.  This way you won’t step on it  into the mud and wonder where it went...or leave it on your fender and drive off.😂
