Had a great last weekend with a close friend of mine Mustang wrenching

I have a friend who is an agnostic car brand and engine guru. He loves hot rod cars. We had him spend last weekend with us and had a blast. My Mustang was originally going to be his Barn Find. His ex fiancée convinced him not to buy so I bought the 65 Fastback. Wedding never happened. I still got the car. So he considers our FB as partially his. He came to visit us last weekend and we were able to spend a couple days tweeking the timing and Carb setting to his OCD specifics. Ol Blue has never ran so good. My timing was off, my vacuum was off, my carb was off. It used to lug down when when you jumped on the throttle while at cruising speed. No more. It is a gorgeous thing. I still have a short list of items I need to get to tweek out the final issues.
I learned so much from my friend. He is an old Air Force buddy I spent a year with in Korea. We both were missing our families and our normal lives.
Next year he is planning on driving out and helping with the Bash. I hope you all get to meet Pete and shake his hand. Great guy.

BTW my timing is 8 degrees initial and 22-24 at WOT. Vacuum is now at 15+ at idle. Never been that low. My carb is maxed out with the biggest jets and the smallest rods. I need a bigger Carb. He wants me to get the Holley Sniper.

Great times, and great friends in this world.

Re: Had a great last weekend with a close friend of mine Mustang wrenching

Good story, Ed.  I met our best friends in the Navy about a year before I met Jean...that's 54 years ago.  We have to get together with them either here, at their place in SoCal, or camping somewhere a couple of times a year or we all go into withdrawal.  I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have Best Friends.

PS:   You may recall the couple who showed up at our Bash in the Black rent-a-stang.

Sound like a great weekend, My best friend grew up 4 doors down the street. Known him as long as I can remember.

Great Story Mochaman,
I have always preached to my kids GOD, Family, Friends, and I have had more than once in my life when friends were there for me when family wasn’t.
My best friend is a car nut as well with a 66 Mustang Coupe and a 67 Mercury Comet.

Sorta funny how this hobby of ours helps keep us sane brother,
especially with family and friends.

At least that’s what I keep telling myself.😁

That is a wonderful and cool story Ed. Really good friends are a blessing. Kind of a similar story on my brother's 1969 428 scj which he refers to as our R code. Glad you had a swell time with your buddy.

Most of y'all (Ed & Anna especially) know my best pal Larry...... Guy with the 49 F-1.......  Best-budz since early 70's.
