I have a 65 coupe with a 302 conversion and mustang Steves PB five master cylinder and front disc conversion .
Today while driving I had to panic stop at an intersection and come down hard on the brake pedal when I left up on the pedal and started moving again I heard a cracking noise from underneath the car around the passenger wheel checked everything out did not see anything loose just to check things out I did a panic stop again and could hear the same noise from both sides in the front area .
It sounds like a cracking noise but under normal breaking it does not make that noise I will jack the car up tomorrow and check everything out good.
just wanted to know if anybody else has had this issue

I would look good an hard at the rotor. Not sure where they came from, but I've seen crappy Chinese made ones have the entire center separate from the disc due to bad metallurgy.

I doubt the noise is caused by any brake component.
That type noise can be suspension related, as the travel of the suspension is farther on a panic stop than during normal braking. In order of most likely, in my mind, grease these and see what cures it.
Upper control arm bushings (See how-to page if they are old and dry)
Upper ball joints
Lower ball joints
Strut rod bushings ( cannot grease them, but check condition)
Spring saddle perches

I did the one in Shelby drop last winner I put new moog upper and lower control arms which had new upper and lower ball joints I installed new strut rod bushings and had everything realigned
Did some checking today if I hit the brakes hard and come to a complete stop when I release I hear the noise so I had someone else drive the car to a stop and when I looked under the car when they release the break I could actually see the caliper snapped back about a quarter inch it did this repeatedly on panic stop I do have a rod and custom front just brake conversion kit that has a bracket that excepts a GM caliper I’m going to contact them tomorrow to see if there’s any problem on their end

On my '68, if the strut rod end is not tightened properly, it can move by compressing the bushings during a hard stop. Does this apply to the '65s as well?

Yes, the bushings compress quite a bit on a hard stop.
As for calipers moving 1/4”. Yes, something is amiss. Gotta love putting GM parts on a Ford!

It's just the Ford rejecting the Chevy parts. You need to add some anti rejection meds to your brake fluid.
