Autolite carb

What is difference between 4100 and 4300?

Re: Autolite carb

From what I can tell, the 4300 is the evil twin of the 4100...

I have the 4100 (rebuilt by Jon Earnhart - Pony Carbs) and it is a great carburetor.

Re: Autolite carb

The 4300 is an emissions era carb and one of the worst carbs ever to carry the Autolite name. It does not resemble the 4100 in any way shape or form. Stay away from it as if it was a carrier of the Wuhan Virus.
The 4100 is arguably the best carb ever made regardless of brand. I had one on my 289, it was rebuilt by Pony Carbs (alas long gone) and was absolutely rock solid.

Re: Autolite carb

If you must run an Autolite (or really any carb for that matter), the 4100 is the one to use.  A truly good design, and one of the Autolites that isn't terribly hard to get parts for, though I think you'll want to make sure you match the venturi size correctly to your application, or maybe its the boosters, either way, all 4100s are not the same.  Like any other carb its got to be matched to the engine.
