Lube Locker

Just ran across this company.

I have them on the front and rear axles in my Jeep. I swapped them in when I last serviced the axles for easier trail fixes when breaking an axle. They have worked flawless for me and haven't leaked one bit. I may add one to the transmission the next time I drop the pan just so I don't have to deal with scraping off the old RTV.

I use the Fel-Pro P2302 with steel core. In the last 3 years I've swapped gears 5 times and the gasket is still keeping the oil inside the housing.


Bob. 69 Mach 1, 393W, SMOD Toploader, Armstrong  steering, factory AC.

Looks interesting.  Similar to the style gaskets a lot of OEMs are now using which are meant to be reusable.  Most intake gaskets are this style now, or captured o-rings.  Intakes no longer have fuel in them, so all they seal is air.  The valve cover gaskets on my 6.0 Diesel are also like this, though I think they are plastic core, not aluminum.  I do so hate diff cover leaks.  I think I'll give these a try.

For 8” and 9” housings, looks like you would still have to use copper washers.

Yes that is correct, I spin them up on my lathe.

The issue with needing the copper washers is that the gasket just seals the drop out to the housing.  Lube can still creep down the threads of the bolts.  FWIW, this can also happen on the pinion where oil creeps down the splines.  I use some silicone on the flat washer behind the pinion nut to prevent it.

Guys to talk about copper washers on 8" diffs? I just used the OEM hardware that I took of when I rebuilt my stock 8" and I have no leaks? 


Slammed Big Blue, ran over the varmints that messed with the Stang. Now all is good in the NW

OEM hardware would have been copper washers...

I use them on my car, but I hate them.  It takes longer to get them off the studs than it takes to pull the entire third member.  Once I run out of new copper washers (available at OReilly) I think I will just use RTV on the threads.  As long ss they are clean, it will never leak.


Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.
