Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

Anyone know the verbiage of the Adapter I need?  Its would go from steel stock 1969 Mustang hardline to 2014 Mustang GT brake line.  Would looking something like this.    Im not 100% this would work.  Thanks Steve

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

Welll.....I don't know butt.......................
I have S-10 calipers on my 66 with Cadillac flex lines that work perfect.

So what you may axe..........meaning there IS a hose out there that will fit withOUT an adapter.
Try going to a "friendly" auto parts place that will let you try different hose fittings for your app.
That's all I got!

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

I used Inline Tube for all of my brake lines (through Flea Bay).
I have 2016 GT brakes front (4 piston 14” rotors) and rear (13” rotors).

Ford has metric threads on the factory junction block on the rubber hose...same as GM.
Inline Tube also has the hard line fitting if you want to keep factory rubber hose.
I considered it, decided to do it once and be done with it.
If you look on their website, you can get hoses without adapters too.

BTW, none of local auto stores sell this adapter or even the correct hardline fitting.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

This is fitting on factory ford j-block on rubber hose.
So 3/8-24 on car won’t work.
Have to cut and install this.

I spent some time figuring it out past spring.
I eventually decided to use common fitting on body instead of this limited use hardline fitting.
I’m sure they will continue to use this until next body change.
Engineers.....sheeesh!😜

I’m guessing someone brother’s cousins’s sister works at the factory that makes this hardline fitting.

Just to clarify...I did not use this hardline fitting on car. Used 3/8-24 which is way more common and easier to find. The factory hose mounting did not fit the clean look I was attempting to achieve either. I used 18” hose sets for front brakes and 24” for rear brakes.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

Thanks for the info guys!  I went to O'reily's and Advanced and they had Metric or Standard but nothing that adapted both together.  So I think the hard line on my 69 Mustang  is a 3/8 thread and the 2014 rubber brake line is a 10mm.   You must be running 18" rims Nos681?  The 2014 Mustang Calipers barely clear with 1" spacers on my 17" rims on front.  I think there 13.2" rotors.    Thanks Steve

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

Inline has many different size adapters.
Do a search for GM, Jeep, Etc

Look at their online catalog and then search on EBay to see if they have a kit ready to go...usually cheaper than a single fitting.
I think 7/16” is common size too.

I wasn’t sure if I needed straight fittings or angled fittings.
That’s why I didn’t get a “non adapter “ hose setup incase i needed to change one end.

As Mustang Steve suggested before on rear line, tack weld adapter to frame bracket and you will only need one wrench to connect/disconnect flex hose.

Yes using 18” wheels.

13.2” barely clears 17”?
What model wheels (future reference for me)?

Thanks!   There 17x8 2001 mustang gt wheels.  Im using 1" spacers for proper offset.  2014 GT rotors. I test fitted the spindles on to the rotors with the calipers.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

The hoses i received all required 10mm x 1.5 inverted flare.

Everything at the stores and online were 10mm x 1.0 inverted flare or bubble flare

Only 10mm x 1.5 were banjo bolts.
My search was this past spring so maybe someone else might have made an adapter.

Might try SURR, Edelmann, or Dorman again.

On my Flea Bay purchases, both sales showed calipers, hoses, and tube nut with hardline cutoff cars.
I only received 3 and one was slightly buggered up.

I checked thread pitches with thread gauges from metric and SAE tap and die kits.

I went on a merry go round trip on this part of the project.

Thanks for wheel info too.
Appreciate it.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

I had Granada spindles prior to 65 spindle install and Mustang Steve brackets for 2016 brakes.

I had hardline in front of spindles like Granada setup, didn’t like hose route.
Made new lines to connect in/near factory hardline  location aft of spindle.

You dont think the above adapters will work with the 2014 lines?    I want to use the 2014 lines because they seem to fit around the caliper better.  They have a square banjo fitting mates up perfectly on the caliper. So I dont know if a after market line will fit in the tight area where the line attaches to the caliper. I have the Granada brakes now too.

Just to verify we’re talking same-same.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

Even if brake calipers are different, no guarantee of course, the body hardline should have same size fittings on 2015-present.

I realized a moment ago ...2014.

I filled out my “ID ten T form” for today! 😂

Perhaps they are the same
Just different hoses per caliper setups.

Switching back to 65 spindles, changing brakes, rebuilding front suspension and steering all at same time.
I decided to make new lines and put some thought to how to approach it.

3/8-24 is still pretty common for brake lines.
I purchased a roll of Cu-Ni line and 3/8-24 fittings and flared away.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

Forget ADAPTERS!!!!

Simple solution is to cut the old flare off and install the correct tube nut that fits the hose.  Then flare ISO Bubble flare on the tube.  The first stage of an SAE inverted flare will work fine in lieu of ISO flare.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

Im with MS on adapters. Just one more potential leak point.
Do it right with the proper fitting.

The factory 2016 hoses needed the odd ball tube nut, not a bubble flare.
The block is part of the hose too.
Just didn’t like the setup.
2016 Hose was too short and I wanted to reuse factory mount location...my OCD.

The three part stainless line allowed me opportunity to change the caliper end if needed.
Inline Tube has various banjo to -3 fittings if straight wasn’t going to work as planned.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

What oddball tube nut DOES NOT have a flared tube inside of it?

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

The tube nut requires an inverted flare, sorry for confusion.

The odd ball part of fitting is the “thread pitch and diameter.”

This was back in February, In-line Tube was only place I could find correct tube nut.
They’re located in motor city.
The only thing I could find that used that combo was metric banjo bolts and factory GM factory style flex. hoses.
Perhaps auto part stores may have it by now, haven’t checked.

Re: Looking for a front Brake Line adapter.

My lines from the  2014 Mustang are about 18" long so there is some room to work with.  I used adapters back in 2003 when I installed the Granada Brakes.  I used adapters for my 1995 Master Cylinder.  Ill most likely use them again...LOL   I hate to use the word cant but I really don't want to do any line flaring.  I tried it many years ago without any success.   Im ok with Adapters if they dont leak.

Try looking at "Pure Choice Motorsports LLC" (purechoicemotorsport.com)
They offer many fittings for both brake and fuel lines.
