Question for people who have blocked out rooms for the hotels.

I finally got a response back from one hotel. He wanted me to set up a contract since I was asking for more than 10 rooms to be blocked out. Is this a normal response?
This is what he replied with.

"=16pxhello, let me know how we can help you.  Based upon the information you have provided we can setup a room block. Since the room block the greater than 10 rooms it will require a contract. Usually contract terms require 50% of the rooms must be rented or you will get charged for them.  You can always reduced the block size a month in advance to avoid any charges."

=16pxI am going to try and get other hotels responses.

Never heard of such.

Mochaman, contracts like this are common in the travel world, it protects the hotel from having unused rooms that you are holding.  Personally I have never had to use a contract in this manner.  A couple things you could do, first do the contract as they wish and just be sure to stay on top of it and amend the contract as it gets closer to the deadline.  Just make sure that its in the contract to allow you to amend it OR hold 10 rooms and encourage members to book early.  Myself, as soon as you post the info I will book my room, if I find out later I cant attend I'll cancel my room, just like this spring!!
