Looking for suggestions on fuel pump to carb lines with pics if you got them ?
I have edelbrock rpm mechanical pump and made a nice 3/8" stainless line that runs to inline billet filter that attached directly to my dual line but can't get the fitting at the pump to stop leaking,
I think its my flare or the line just not staying straight as fitting is tightened. Has a ferule fitting at dual line. Really don't want to try and make another one of these and was hoping to avoid any lengths of rubber hose and a bunch of clamps.

Is that a single flare?

the line is a double inverted flare. The edelbrock pump required a 3/8" npt fitting that converts to inverted flare.
was considered pre made up black braided lines you see online but they seem to all be too short.

I have the same fuel pump and used this stuff to make up my own the line between pump and carb.
And I used this adapter at the pump.
And used this in-line filter
And I used an assortment of the Earl's Ultra Pro hose ends to make all of the connections. Went together easily and no leaks.

Aluminum fuel line is an option. Cheap, easy to work with and mine does not leak. I had the same issue when I made a mild steel line; just could not get it to stop dripping at the pump to line connection. Zero issue with the aluminum one.
There is black braided AN hose also that works very well. I've made up many, many feet of it over the years. Also easy to work with and you can get fittings in black or silver. Personally I hate the braided stainless line with red and blue fittings look. It just screams '80s. The black braided line and black or silver fittings give a nice modern alternative to that.

Are you using the bottom exit plate?
Both inlet and outlet point to the ground.
Or the stock bottom plate that comes with pump?
Inlet and outlet are on opposite sides.
Picture of pump and your flare might be helpful too.
According the to description online, pump has 3/8 NPT.

I used Summit fittings and 3/8" SS braided line. Notice how the "black" coating on the Summit fittings by the carb lost the blackness.

Bob, you sure have a lot of real-estate under the hood with those shock towers removed....
1fstsang, I can understand not wanting to bend another one, can you get rid of the flare at the pump and use a ferule fitting on that end too? Will it still be long enough?

For many years working on, and racing, a few different Fords with those shock towers I always said if I ever had the funds, I'd do the MII front end. Very happy with the conversion.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
