Just a thought I'd like my Front Amber Flashers to also work as Running lights and work with the Headlights
Has anyone done this

Oh yeah...a bunch of folks!
On the headlight switch.....run a jumper wire from your parking lights/flasher lights to your tail lights. Just trace out the color codes so you will know whats/what.
That way...when you turn on the head and tail lights....the parking/flasher lights will get power also.

Just completely re-guritating the dash harness for our 66 so I think I remember the wire colors without making trip to the shop.
Jump the black/Yel stripe wire, the 16ga from the headlight switch (front park lites) to the brown wire (rear tail lights) and the front parks will then be on with the tail lights. The lt. Green/white and white/blue wires run from the turn switch to the front turn filiment and will still work independently of the park/running lights.
I'm personally not a fan of this mod as I feel the front turns are more visable when they come from nowhere instaead of just make an already bright lens brighter. This is my main snivel with the new cars. The turns are just a brightening of an illuminated amber lens right next to a bright headlight. I can't tell if they are working until the damned car is right on top of me.

I tend to agree with BB that the front signal lights will be more visible to other drivers if they're not already on and then one starts to flash when signalling especially since they're single filament fixtures so don't flash brighter. I'm always a little worried about other drivers seeing where I'm going with the front parking/signal lights so low on the car and I put the following lights on the car about a year ago. They are much, much brighter than the stock parts, reasonably priced compared to other kits, look good and well made. Recommended.

Front running/signal light:
Taillights:
And the flasher you need to make these work:

Good info McStang. Thanks...may just try that rather than the mod I had planned to add a second 1157 to the tail housing.

yeah BB, two 1157s would create a lot of heat

Pretty sure these babies are easily brighter than two 1157s. I had clean reflectors with the original bulbs and put these LEDs in, had the wife step on the pedal in the garage and had to squint a little like Clint Eastwood does in all those old movies. Reversed positions (hmm) and she said 'Oh yeah, hurts my eyes'.

Where is the flasher located in a '65?

There is a metal bracket connected to the fresh air vent on the drivers side. Towards the front.

I didn't think 65's had the flashers?!
Didn't it start in 66?!

I wonder if the LED back-up lights actually throw some light out the rear. The stock ones might be good for letting someone behind you know that you are backing up, but as the driver, they throw no light on anything in your rear.

Gotta have the flasher for the turn signals, Sal. The four-way emergency flashers started in 66 and use a separate flasher unit which mounts under the glove box.
See ya soonly, Mike.

The instructions here are correct. The secret is to do it at the headlight switch and simply jump the taillight feed to the parking light terminal. This makes the front partking lights go on with the tail lights, which is essentially what you want to do.
