Up here in the frozen tundra of hell, winter tires are mostly a given when the daily average temps go below the low 40's.
Changing to the wheels has gotten to be an impossible chore because of the arthritis in my wrists, I cant manipulate the wheels on to the studs anymore.
I saw some pictures of a gizmo on the internet that helps position the wheels so they can be easily rotated.
I made one up from those pictures about a year or so ago but it was a major pain to adjust the height to match the jacked up vehicle/
I just finished making an adjusting screw to raise and lower the wheel to get it at the same center line height as the axel.

That's very cool (no pun intended). Thanks. You should maybe add this to the Tips and How-To's :-)

Real nice work Rudi. No idle hands at your place. I've got an order of metal and some simple plans headed your way

Thanks guys, with this Wuhan virus crap going on, I need to get out in the shop and occupy my mind doing something interesting.
Bearing Bob: I've got an order of metal and some simple plans headed your way
From what you have done I don't think you you need any help
Chaplin; Very clever idea!
The adjuster was my idea, the rest was taken from on line pictures
MS:\; Good reason to move south?
I have recently checking out property around Canyon Lake, but shipping for my lathe and milling machine might pose a problem.

looks like a nice tool!! How frozen is it? We received 10" of snow yesterday and lows in the single digits. This is a pic of me working a football game last night.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
