Ok, I've been working on my daughters car, got it running pretty good. Thought I fixed the oil leak shooting oil from the intake. But I'm still getting oil leaking by the timing cover. Im thinking about resealing the timing cover, but someone said, Im wasting my time becase the engine is going to start leaking from somewhere else do to the Blow by? He said the gaskets are under more pressure.
Theres no doubt it has blow by, but the eng. runs good? I'm not ready for a rebuild financially. So should I not bother with resealing the timing cover?
Your thoughts??

Get a can of the good sealer, called right stuff, comes in a cheesewhiz type can. It is much more durable than regular sealant.

How are you venting your crankcase? Do you have a PCV valve? Are you running vents in the valve covers? There are ways to vent the crankcase rather than relying on a gasket leak. A vent at the front of the driver's side valve cover and a PCV at the back of the passenger's side still allows the PCV to work properly.

That's what I was going to say is make sure that your pcv valve, egr valve, breather vent, etc., are all clear and working properly to help minimize what you can of the blowby. If it is extreme you can look into breather kits like drag cars use to evaquate combustion/crankcase gases.

You guys are gonna think I'm crazy, but I have 2- 5/8's hoses from crankcase hanging down past the firewall to allow the engine to breathe better and not be under pressure so much? The crazy thing is the engine really runs good! Ok I'll tackle sealing the timing cover. Thanks

Old cars used to have vent tubes before there were pcv valves. The problem is that sometimes they can blow oil out of the tubes, but are effective.

I've been having some same problem. Had some blow by coming up dipstick tube and I believe the the timing cover and also the oilpan gasket. I have the PCV in the fron valve cover and have the back vented from the Valve Cover to the Air cleaner. Is that ok? Plan on fixing the oil pan leaks this winter and tighten up the timing cover bolts.

Ya'll realize...all PCV's are not just alike Wonder what a PCV for a BBF would do for it.....or going the other way a PVC for a 4or6?
