Went to the South Eastern Gasser Association drags this weekend and...

WOW!!!!!!!! is an understatement....
Finally got to see this 'kid'(19) run AND.......bought-a-T-shirt!!
Stroked out Windsor block (380-ish cu.in) two 4's on a tunnel-ram and forged 'ever-thang'. He leaves the line at 12,000 shifts at 10,000. Class rules mandate 4 speed only with straight front axle. 60's style racing rules. (STRICT rules!) NO bracket racing.....Heads-up racing/first to the line wins....no posted top speed (just a win light)...no stutter box/no rev limiters....strictly weight to cubic inch. 6lb per cu.in.= A/Gas....8lb per cu. in.=B/Gas...etc.
They even regulate the type of wheels and hood scoops etc. (If it was NOT on a 60's gasser its not allowed)
Had an absolute blast

They even have "back-up-girls"

For all you kids that don't know what back-up-girls do......after your burnout they run up and get in front of the race car while the driver backs it up. Her job is to line them up in the 'tracks' they just laid down. She usually has on tight/short clothes with tall /high heel boots (and no bra!!) She has to jog along in front of the car giving hand signals i/e go left...go right.
"Jungle Pam" was a famous back-up girl in the 60's (see pic) for Jungle Jim Lieberman's funny car.
The Grand Spaulding Dodge funny had a famous back-up girl as well. (see next pic)
