Or trunk for you guys in the northern hemisphere.
I've always had a smell of fuel in the boot of the vert, it seemed to get worse after I put an in-tank pump in a 20 gallon tank for the EFI swap.
Because I had to cut and shut the 16 gallon fuel filler tube to shorten it, I got ta thinkin' that maybe my joint was leaking. I worked out a way to pressurise it in a bucket of water and look for air bubbles.
The joint was fine, but i discovered a leak at the point where the stamping for the cap was silver soldered to the tube. A 3/8" section had never been filled from new and it was venting into the boot.
Bit of brazing, and it was fixed.
Wonder how many times it had been into the dealer from new for the smelly boot.

Nice work Barry. Good job eliminating that annoying smell. You're kinda like Febreze for a smelly boot....

Awww ... Thanks Josh. That's the nicest thing I've been called lately ... so, I'll take it.

I wonder if that's what going on with Bonnie 67. Pull it out of the cool garage in the summer and it gets a little gassy inside.

Rich, after I found the problem, I looked at a 67 filler tube that I will be using on the 67.
It has a RTV repair in the same place. Could be more common than I'd think. Worth checking.

While working out how to pressurise the filler tube, I came up with the idea of using 4" of exhaust pipe, welding a plate across one end, and mounting a schrader valve in the plate, then joining it to the filler tube with the hose and clamps.
Waayy over thinkin' it.
My Bogan fix (think redneck).

Looks like something I'd cook up, Barry, except it seems to have worked for you. Glad you got to the source and fixed the "stinks". I hate the smell of gas inside the car.
BTW: I really enjoyed our talk yesterday. Next time we'll make it longer and also let the girls yap a while.
Sure hope the world returns to something like "normal" one of these days...really miss you man,

Sadly, I know the answer to that Mike ... it turns the tank into a ball shaped object that you can't kick around.

You forgot about the part where it goes flying way up in the sky faster than you could see it go. While standing looking around for it it lands on your head.
