In the process of installing the american autowire harness in my 67.
The routing diagram shows the wires for the headlight harness and dimmer switch going up and over the brake pedal support but not enough room back there for that and there is a sharp edge on the pedal support that would eventually cut the wires. The newer version of the wiring harness has the dimmer switch routed up along pedal support then behind the instrument panel.
That seems to make the most since but the dimmer switch wires aren't long enough to route that way. I could add a length of wire to the 4 wires that run to dimmer switch but hate to cut the new harness wires but may have another good solution. I might be able to run the dimmer wire behind the dash pad and carpet but not crazy about that idea either.
anybody have similar experience with the AWW harness and if so how did you deal with it ?

I had a similar issue with mine. I did what you are contemplating- I lengthened the dimmer wires.

Its not bad to make wires longer or shorter when its a new harness. Just be sure to make reliable connections like solder and shrink tube. On my C10 I wanted the new fuse box kit behind the seat, that entailed making some much longer while some became shorter.
