The parts hunt begines. I have the ok from the boss to begin looking for the parts.
Engine is a 67 289.
The car is a 66 coupe.
I have a 89 5.0 T5.
Will be using Mustang Steve's cable mod.
Can get a new 86-93 FRPP cable bell for $230.
Question
What flywheel and clutch set up do I use.
Thanks

match the flywheel to the engine.......your '67 289 will use a 28oz emblance flywheel
clutch.....use a diaphram style vs the 3 finger type.
might consider doing a search of the forum which will yield even more info....
good luck

The King Cobra 10.5" clutch is good for general use. I am quite impressed with my new centerforce dual friction. It is easier to push and has more grip.
The best deal I have found on flywheels is Mustang Depot. They carry a billet steel 100% machined flywheel for your engine. It is 28 ounce balance and 157 tooth ring gear. It is also drilled for the 10.5" clutch. Ford Racing makes a really good one for about twice the price. The FRPP flywheel also has the 3 dowel pins to help center the pressure plate. Metric bolts required. An original 289 flywheel could be used but there are two disadvantages to using one. One is it will only fit a 10" clutch. Other is it will require a different starter for a manual transmission. The later style flywheels use a starter for an automatic, which you already own.
Be sure to order a new block plate when you order the bellhousing. They are only about $25 from Ford Racing.
I have an article on my FAQ pages about all the required changes when putting a T5 in place of a C4.

Steve,
I went the economy route with my 66 with a mildly modified 289. I used a stock 289 flywheel and clutch. It's been in there about 4 years and has held up well.
