Can anyone who has the MS T-5 cross member on a 65/66 post an installed pic showing the relation between the back of the trans mount and the vertical bracket that the brake equalizer mounts in?
My specific question is whether you can slide the trans mount all the way to the rear of slots in the cross member or if the trans mount will hit the bracket for the brake equalizer stopping the trans for sliding all the way back?
I currently have the MDL cross member and Ron Morris mounts and noticed yesterday that I've got about an inch or so of more rearward movement available on the engine mounts, but even though there is more room available in the slots of the cross member to move the trans back further, the trans mount hits the bracket preventing the trans from moving back the last 1/4" or so. I'd like to move the engine rearward a little more if I could because it would give me more room to run a bigger Spal fan.
Here are pics of the MDL cross member and the MS cross member for comparison.

There are a couple of cans of worms you may want to keep in mind.
First: possibe shifter interference to existing hole in tunnel
Second: driveshaft length
I wanted to do same thing with my MDL crossmember for clearance too.
I ended up moving it forward due to driveshaft length and had to temporarily cutoff front shifter stop.

Yeah, sliding everything back a bit could cause some problems. I think I am fine with the shifter hole location and the drive shaft, but I think the bigger problem will be the exhaust. Not sure if I can push everything towards the back of the car without the pipes hitting something or over stressing the rubber hangers.
But would like to push it back a bit if I can to gain more water pump/ fan clearance.

Don't know whether it matters to you but the top one does not work on the convertibles. The eshaust pipe(s) have to go above the reinforcing plate that bolts to the bottom of the car and they can't because the "U" prevents them. The lower one does work on the convertibles though.

Ahh, good point, thanks. I do have a convertible, so I guess that won't work.

at on time I had an 83 ford ranger 4 cly. engine goes south. the last engine I put in it was a 5.0 with the t5 trans. long story short drive shaft was a bit too long, so I got out my hop saw and took a bit off of the yoke cleaned up the end from the sharp edges. I delivered parts t the oil filed ran it for years until I got rid of it.

Hmm.... good thought. I did not. I don't remember the mount having slots like that on the trans side when I installed it, but it probably does. I will loosen those a bit and see if there is any more rearward movement available there.
Thanks!

The slots are for FORDS standard of tolerance for all parts, + or - 1/4”
