Lower Hose for a 24" Radiator Swap???

1966 Mustang Coupe, 5.0 Swap, T5z, MAF/EFI

Anyone have suggestions for the lower hose when upgrading to a 24" in radiator in 65-66 Mustang?  I have a Dewitt's 24" radiator, inlet on upper passenger side, outlet lower driver side.  Sizes are stock match: 1.5" on top, 1.75" bottom.  I've tried 90 degree elbow hose, metal flex hose (fyi those are crap), and the stock lower hose.

So far the only option I got to work is a a Dayco 13" flex hose I had to trim down 1/2 inch on either end but it still has a significant kink in it that reduces the diameter.  It's got an internal spring in it so I suppose it will work and flow well enough but I'd love to find a better fit.  On the top inlet, the lower radiator hose for a Bronco II worked great.  Had to trim about an inch from the down turn side but it looks and fits great.

Full write-up coming once I get it all installed.

Can you add a top view?
Looks like the outlet is just barely on driver’s side.
Is this their direct fit?

Wouldn't the replacement lower hose for a 67 Mustang (that came with this 24" radiator) fit?

Yes it's on the drivers side.

It is a direct fit radiator but there is no direct fit 24" radiator for a 64-66 Mustang as that sizes was not available and require custom fitting.  Stock 64-66 radiator is only 16" for the 289 if I'm not mistake.  Radiator fits fine, just need to find a more appropriate fitting hose.

Try a Gates # 20609 for a 1970 Boss 302.

Re: Lower Hose for a 24" Radiator Swap???

Have you tried Gates 20609 for 302/351 1970 mustang?

65-69 lower on passenger side
70- later lower on driver side

Another possibility is to take the radiator to a radiator shop and have them move the outlet out a few inches.  I have done that a couple of times to good effect.

I'm pretty sure that's the same as continental 60620 I picked up from Summit Racing and was a no go.  I'll double check though.

Re: Lower Hose for a 24" Radiator Swap???

I use the 70 Mustang 24” radiator hose. If lower hose is on passenger side, use the 69 version for the 24”.

Also, a 1974 Maverick 302 lower hose has an extra bend to better clear a power steering pump belt.

Re: Lower Hose for a 24" Radiator Swap???

I mocked up a coat hanger once and found a 74 buick skylark hose that fit perfect backwards on my 67 C10 rad conversion. just went thru and checked hoses tell I found one.

Slammed Big Blue, ran over the varmints that messed with the Stang. Now all is good in the NW
