That has to be a mis-print. There's no way an FE and a small block would have the same casting number.

According to Mustangtek the 289 block has the complete casting/engineering number C5AE-6015-A on it and the FE has just C5AE-A. Also, the FE is a 2 bolt main top oiler- not a side oiler nor cross-bolt mains. Lots of confusion there.

This is right most of the time. Some of the blocks cast to be a 406 were cast with the nubs for cross bolts. Some were drilled, some were not….If I remember right. There are blocks out there cast as side oilers and drilled as top oiler. Again, the inconsistency was consistent. The blocks they used for irrigation pumps gets into a different realm of what were they thinking!!!
