I'd like to see what tools people have and recommend for connector crimping. I've got a couple but nothing I would recommend. Especially non-insulated connectors that you heat shrink over.
Aerospace used ratcheting type that were pretty high dollar. Not looking to spend 4 figures....

Another option is the Goodguys show at Texas Motor Speedway on that same date (25 Sep). Could gather up at the Waffle House and roll in together.
The Waxahachie park show was this weekend. That would have been a good one

Not a pretty site, but the message to take away is to build a small harness on the back of your gauge cluster and create a matching harness out of the dash. You can see a 6 pin and a 4 pin here. Clean up the wiring but give yourself a decent extension so you can pull it out and work.

Yeah, Mustang Owners Club of Austin. I haven’t been to one of their shows since about 2007, but it was pretty good. At that time the 05 body style was making a big impact so several late models. Also this club at this time had several Shelby guys. Yellow Rose types.
Need someone local to weigh in that knows. It was fun 15 years ago.

There’s a Mustang Car Show put on by MOCA in Georgetown on Sept 25th. I haven’t been to that show in years but it used to have a very good turnout of 130+ Fords.

Well guys, after 22 years of owning this fastback, I've sold her. For the last 10 or so years, I hadn't put 1000 miles on her and quite frankly at this age I don't enjoy manual steering, manual brakes and no AC. Yes, I could have modified her to add all those things, but I just didn't see the ROI of sinking 10K or so into her. So, off she went. If anyone's interested, PC Investments in Sherman bought her and now has her for sale.
That being said, I didn't leave Fords altogether. I wanted something with low/no maintenance, AC, PS, and a little curb appeal.
Say hello to my lil' Mule. 1993 Gen 1 Lightning with 16,500 miles.

I will say this about locating the air intake, if the filter is in the engine bay an unprotected open element filter is a bad idea. The 5.0s used an airbox for a reason. The filter can pick up eddy currents in the air generated by the engine fan. This tricks the MAF into thinking the air entering the engine is fluctuating, and can lead to an unstable idle. This took me several years to figure out. We used to just think that the unstable idle was due to the car being modified. Then we shielded the first air filter and the idle immediately improved and we all felt like dumb@$$es. On a 5.0 I would always run a fenderwell CAI. I'm using an Anderson one of my '89 GT.
I had a very similar experience. Thought I’d build me a cold air box and draw air through a small grill I’d cut in the core support. Turns out this forced air played havoc with my MAF and the engine would sputter and backfire after I’d get going fast enough to get some air pressure going. I ended up blocking off about 95% of the air entering through the grill.

Cars for CASA show is Sunday Oct 11th this year. It would be fun to take a fleet of mustangs to that show, and Oct 11 is beginning to get to a bearable temperature.
Ed, I’ll be retired by then so I can help out with whatever you need.

Nothing bad up here, but had a lady at work have her house struck by lightning and burned it to the ground. She and family got out with just the clothes on their backs.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
