found 12 mustangs and one cougar yeaterday

So I had been in talks with a member from the vmf that was interested in my 65/66 fastback door glass I had listed for sale, I do not think he is a member here.   For a few months I thought he was farther North of me than he actually was.  A couple months ago I realized he was just North of me so I had been trying to meet up with him over the last couple of months.

Last night I dropped my son off at the bmx track and headed over to this persons home to swap parts.  Once I pulled in the driveway I knew I was at the right location.  Three cars covered up in the driveway.  Two cars in the garage and one is a coupe to fastback conversion which is not very pretty and needs a major body guy to save it.  Another car in an enclosed trailer in the backyard where I had to dig out the rear seats I was getting.  Another car covered up in the backyard.  Three more cars in the back patio he enclosed where my new rear deck lid was at.  Then he tells me he wants to show me the cars inside his home.  Now I'm thinking this can't be right not here in Florida in an older style home.  I walk in he moves a large piece of cardboard and there seats what looks like a freshly painted 65 fastback.  Next to it a rough 65 vert and there sits another 65 fastback that looks like its well worth restoring.  He claims he also has a 69 fastback which was not at the house and guess what.  Nothing it for sale!!!  He had so many parts you couldn't walk around anything any where.  Not that age has anything to do with this but he clearly is at an age where he can no longer take on major projects.   I was exciting to see there still out there but saddened by its not for sale.

A guy with cars in his house, I love it.  Cool find. Stay in touch with him, he may not get along with his kids, if he has any.

I knew a guy who collected vintage motorcycles. He had them in every room in house, including the kitchen.
Having CARS  inside your house is whole other level!

I plan on it.  He already asked me if I would do some welding in trade for car parts.    So who knows what may or may not come of it.  I never thought I was going to get the project that I have now.

The one fastback is ready to be assembled and given his age he could take on that type of project but a full on restoration let alone a fastback conversion isn't going to happen.  He claims one of the cars a 68 vert is all done and in top notch condition but I can't recall why it's tucked away.  Another car is suppose to be great but the trans went out so he parked it.  One car in the driveway was an old race car a 65 coupe but it looked like it was missing the roof.  May be a good car to perform a fastback conversion on I don't know.  The 70 coupe in the back yard looked ok from what I could see.    The 65 coupe in the trailer looked good but appeared to be stripped down  and it was dark by then and being inside a trailer full of parts all around and on top of it I can't really say how good it is.

I still can't believe what I saw.

Do you think he's been waiting for the right welder to come along before saying " I do"?  Can't fault a guy for that. It is tough to find a good welder. LOL!

He had a guy that was welding for him or I should say started on the coupe to fastback conversion.

He left me a message last night saying he sold his convertible that sits next to the conversion project.  He’s offering me the conversion project in exchange for doing a different conversion for him.   What that means is he has the side rocker inner structure pieces for the proper conversion and he’s keeping those for when he finds a solid coupe.   The conversion he started he sliced up the drip rail area and tried to form that opening to match the fastback.  So he knows the conversion he started is more work than doing the conversion right from the start.

I politely messaged him and said no thanks on the offer.  That his project shell has no value to it.  My gut feeling is the city may be cracking down on him to move some of these cars sitting all over.
