Hey 6sal6! What are the trim pieces next to the headlights on your ride? I think I've only seen these one other time and wondered what they were. Were they an option back in the day?

I think they were an "add-on" back in the day. I liked 'm then and 50 years later I bought some from Mustangs Unlimited. (I bet one of the other vendors have them.
They are a little cheesy piece of plastic butt..........when screwed on they look pretty cool I think.
They have been on there for YEARS!

The original ones were tin. The dealers sold them. Called Gills

They are still available - do a browser search for 66 mustang headlight bucket extension trim. One of the results should be

I see that they require drilling and screws to fasten them. I would be hesitant to drill, but instead cut the heads off the screws, epoxy them in to the trim holes and use 3M trim tape for a hole free mounting.

Use stainless screws and holes are drilled in pot metal.No rust issues so far. The 'gills' were just little 'do-dadz' I thought I would try .....to see if I liked the look.
(guess I did! lost count of how many years ago I did it)
I always liked the 'script MUSTANG' on 69's so I did that too ! A 'lil Sal touch' that makes it mine!!!
