Comp Cams lifters are NOT what the picture shows

We had discussed that all roller lifters are the same in different packaging. The Summit catalog picture for Comp Cams lifters clearly shows they are made differently around the roller axle.

I received a box of Comp Cams roller lifters from Summit today, and the lifters are IDENTICAL to the Ford
Lifters I sent back because two of sixteen were defective.

This sucks.

Re: Comp Cams lifters are NOT what the picture shows

Phew, glad to know that my Ford Racing lifters are really Comp Cams lifters. I was worried for a while. I guess I can rest easy now.

Re: Comp Cams lifters are NOT what the picture shows

I did a review on Summit today for the Comp lifters.  The request they sent me to review them contained the picture of the old style Comp lifters with the 360 degree roller support.  The picture of the item for sale on the website now contains a picture of what I got, which is a Ford lifter.

So, just order the Ford lifters and take your chances if they actually work or not!   Or, maybe Ford tests them and Comp gets the functional ones for an extra $50 a set?  The rest go in Ford boxes?

Re: Comp Cams lifters are NOT what the picture shows

First photo is from ford  2nd photo is from summetracing (confederate ford part, China)  .  I did detailed analysis last year on some Honda parts for a v6 timing belt/ water pump replacement (3sets).  Used a kit purchased  from 1) Ebay   2) Amazon  3) Honda dealer certified warehouse.    For consultation and verifications a local independent Honda repair shop and a Local Honda dealership parts manager.  All parts came in the exact packing and all with Honda OEM stamped.   Ebay parts and amazon parts were about 50 % less in cost but advertised as REAL OEM HONDA.    The analysis found many visual and measured size anomalies .    We stopped the analysis there because of this. The fake parts would probably fit and function but had no testing to life of part.  We forwarded the results to Honda and they knew it but because of off shore  issues (China) they could NOT do anything about it. American manufactures have the same issues.    Soooo  we have to now trust the local Ford sellers don't sell confederate parts.   I now search on parts for complaints about bogus parts.    If its on Ebay or Amazon and says OEM  have ???  figure its not until verified.               and sorry for typo's and poor grammer ( engineer not english major)

I've always heard great things about Morel lifters and how they were one of the few companies that actually made lifters in the US. They have a dealer page and CompCams (part of the Holley juggernaut) is definitely NOT on the list. However some other brand names are https://morellifters.com/dealers

Something as simple as APR bolts may be fake copies. What do you do? Well for me I save a lot of old engine and body hardware. Buckets full... No bolt gets left behind, (well some do). I take my chances that way. High $ anything is more questionable as, is it real or not.

Henry bolts are good stuff. I'm glad ARP is close enough to pick up my fasteners.

Lucky! Although when I was putting together my Lightning I finally set up an account and started calling in my orders Little easier on the wallet than Summit or other parts places.

And heck yeah I save every bolt, but, washer, etc I come across. This is my "non-greasy" extras drawer

Re: Comp Cams lifters are NOT what the picture shows

CCA-877-1 is probably what you saw a picture of.  Summit does that a lot.  For some reason I could only find the individuals, but the picture in this link is what they actually look like:
