They keep following me home...

Happened upon a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII with 103k miles that decided to follow me home.

Rust free AZ car but does have the typical roof and hood patina due to the AZ sun.

Having sat for awhile, the corn juice fuel is bad so, my plan is to install a new fuel tank and pump. Clean the fuel lines and rebuild the injectors before I attempt to start the beast.

If after all that, it runs and drives well, I'll probably drive the hot rod Lincoln....I keep telling Mrs JKB she'll look good in it but all I get is an eye roll.

The final plan is to harvest the drive train and transplant into the 68 coupe as a complete EFI set up....

Should have it running in a couple weeks....more later...

Re: They keep following me home...

With the right adapter you can use the rear disks. That’s what I have on my 68.

Re: They keep following me home...

Cool find.

I don’t have to drag anything home to get the eye roll.

Re: They keep following me home...

I would give the Mrs.'s a ride in it. You'll likely never get it back.

Re: They keep following me home...

I bet it rides nice like the ‘84 Cougar LS I had in my 20’s.

Re: They keep following me home...

Looks Great!  My father in law had the 4 door version and I think it was a 1984.  Well it had a 4 cylinder Diesel engine in it.  It took almost 25 seconds to get up to 55 MPH...LOL   It did get really good gas mileage though.
I want to say it was a Mercedes Benz engine ford had used in those cars.

Re: They keep following me home...

The 84 Cougar had 5.0L CFI and AOD and had consistent 20-22 mpg.
Even had a digital dashboard not analog gauges.
I added electric analog gauge package in the radio antenna switch location.
It was a fun car.

As I recall, about 1800 rpm at 70mph.

Re: They keep following me home...

Update....

After dropping and cleaning the fuel tank, installing a new fuel pump module, fuel filter, and having the fuel injectors rebuilt, the hot rod Lincoln roared to life.
Runs and sounds good. Have several minor issues to address but, it will either be back on the road or rolled into the operating room to havest the drive train for the 68 coupe at a later date.....
