There are crate motor horror stories too on other Mustang sites.

I dropped my heads off at the machine shop yesterday, and a machinist taking my work said parts are really difficult to get these days. Said sbc bearings can't be found.

Awesome!  I'll throw that set of 400SBC main bearings I have on the shelf on eBay then!

Bro, just buy a high-quality, well-built SHORT BLOCK (roller/non-roller...blah-blah-blah whatever!) and then do your own thing to it.

When it's done, you'll look back, happy, and it will have been a fun and educational experience.
