I got the exhaust in, except for tailpipes. Also got the PS lines built and connected between the Saginaw TC pump and Borgeson box. Tomorrow, tailpipes and new fuel line.

Did you reweld around the hpipe?

Great Work! That Hipo manifold comes all the way down by the starter?

No, that is the way it came out of the box.

Yep, I really like using the hipos. Not having headers in the way of everything sure makes a difference. My main theme on this car is to make it comfortable and easy to maintain.

I've been running HIPO's since I put the 5.0 in back in 06. Never messed with headers on this car and I've been happy ever since. Only problem I've had is that with the AOD I had modify the stock HIPO H-pipe.
Painted them with Por 15 Exhaust coating and they still look great nearly 40K miles later.

What are you doing for tail pipes? Did they come with an exhaust kit or are you going to fab your own?

Hopefully he puts those Mach1 tips on that I sold him for no profit

The 2” tailpipes that came with the exhaust kit will need to be cut/rewelded to fit right. But, they will fit when I get done with them. And, those cool quad tips will be on there, too. Thanks for the deal.

I can’t agree more about using Hi-po manifolds, I have way too much time invested in my JBA shortys. I had to re work the drivers side tube 3&4 to get it not to hit the Borgeson steering box. They actually fit well before adding power steering. Now I have to lift that side of the motor to get it in and out. Manifolds would be clean and easy.
This is what my drivers side looks like now.
And this is what it looked like new,

I just put a dent in the one tube and they cleared. Definitely a more elegant solution though kardad.

So MS this is a 351w correct? Could you tell me the part number for the hipo manifolds? I had read somewhere that the stock manifolds were pretty good, but these are better? Of course headers would be better for flow, but cast iron has the advantage of being quieter, and as you say easier to install.

Not to change the subject. I dont have a lift but I did like this guy's idea of using a office chair cranked back to work under the car. Maxjax 5 Year Long Term Review!! - YouTube

Engine is a 331 stroker. Same externally as 302, 289 or 5.0
I got manifolds from Kentucky Mustang on 4th of July sale.
Don’t know about fitment on a 351w. Obviously bolts to same heads but not sure if taller deck height changes fitment.

I brought a Maxjax because it is installed in the basement garage and I don't have a lot of headroom what with beams and heater ducts above it. I'll have to try the office chair trick!

Are you ok with those welds at the cross over?
From what I can see from the pictures they don’t look to be up to your standards.

Hey BB. Did you bake on the Por 15?

All this talk of "comfort and ease of maintenance" never used to make my list! But lately with the grandson looking to drive my cars, it must be time. I've got the 65 on the lift and Anthony is helping a lot on it so he gets to drive it some day, I'm starting to think about a set of shorty's and putting the switchable (on-off) mufflers on it. The HiPo's soumd ok, but I just can't give up having a bowl of spaghetti hanging on each side of the motor.

Nope, brush it on. Let it dry, bolt on engine. Twist the winding stem and go...
I did this as instructed by BB...

Agreed. I have headers on nearly everything I own. Love the look and the sound. I always keep the stock parts, though not sure why...

Te: welding standards
They are some big old nasty welds, but you should see the ones I put on the mufflers. My welding lens got sprayed with brake cleaner while it was hanging up, and fogged it so bad I couldn’t see a darned thing except the arc itself. I had to basically weld 1/2” at a time, totally blind. Still looks better than the factory welds on the h-pipe, though. I bought a new helmet to use on the tailpipes. Hopefully my excuse for ugly welds is a thing of the past now.
If I can ever get the stoplight switch to work, maybe I can get back to tailpipes.
