4 Post lift question

Hello everyone,
Currently been working on diferent vehicles. Basic maintenance for spring.  I just discovered that one of my 4 post cables has some broken strands. I was wondering if there is a reason behind this? It is only the one cable closest to the pump and only the 3' area 3' down from the top. This area will go through 2 wheels when going up.

Slammed Big Blue, ran over the varmints that messed with the Stang. Now all is good in the NW

Re: 4 Post lift question

Made in China? Get some cables made somewhere else. I wonder if any are made in US?

Re: 4 Post lift question

Have you ever greased the rollers?  Wonder if one is having a hard time rolling.   On my first lift, I owned it for years before I discovered it had holes where zerks were supposed to go. It quit squeaking so bad after I greased it!

Cables are not hard to change since they are not supporting any weight once the stops are engaged.

Re: 4 Post lift question

I wouldn’t lift anything with the cable like that.

Re: 4 Post lift question

Suggest Googling it to see if problems have been posted, and call the manufacturer and see if they can offer anything.  (note that you may get "nope, first time we heard of a problem")

Re: 4 Post lift question

I never get under the lift until all the locks are engaged! Had a cable break once but the locks worked as they should. New cables are not that expensive, just a pain to install without help! When the cable broke, it was not a real sudden failure just seemed to be stretching. When I looked at it and saw the problem I decided it was Beer time!
