So, finally completed my console after 5 years, or so, of planning (Ok, procrastination). Also, installed a single-DIN radio (thank you for your input JamesW). The compartment lid is from the Hump-Hugger that was previously installed, otherwise everything else was made. Had the vinyl and padding on the sides installed by a local upholsterer. The top is PVC foam board with vinyl adhesive backed ‘pebble guard’ on top. The cup holder is from a 99-06 GMC/Silverado truck that I bought off of eBay.

Outstanding craftsmanship Bob!
Love the arm rest and a/c vents.
What kind of steering wheel is that, looks like leather covered.👍

Nice, I really like the look. Glad I've procrastinated this long on mine, now I've got some even better ideas!

Rudi - thank you, the steering wheel is a 14" LeCarra "Elegant" model, and it is leather covered.

The A/C vent is the standard Vintage air vent with the ends cut off. I didn't want to use the two smaller vents that would mount on the sides of the console that Vintage can sells.

I got ideas from several of the console designs that had been posted to this forum, and some I found on the web.
I have other pictures of the build if you, or anyone else, wants copies, send me a PM with your email address.

Looks really good. I had made one myself a few years ago. Probably going to update it if i ever get my coupe going again. Grandkids and other projects getting in the way.

That looks great. I’ve thought about trying to build one when that time comes but I’m not sure I can build something worth while.

The button is for the "Roll Control". My wife asked the same question, when I told her it was so I could do smokey burnouts, she rolled her eyes and said "I should have known".

Electric exhaust cut-outs and a brake line-lock are both on my want list.

Looks almost stock - NIce job!

Great job, how is the shifter length working out? Just right? Too short?. Like the A\C vents

Shifter length is fine for me, I'm 6'-2", it's a 9" handle. I have the stock seats that are far back as they can go. I do have to lean forward a bit, but not enough to be annoying.

Very well done!

The top is ¼” PVC foam board with vinyl adhesive backed ‘pebble guard’ on top.
The sides are ¼” plywood, covered with padding and black vinyl.
The top is set ½” down from the top of the sides, and is friction fit into the sides, and it is removable.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
