It’s BASH THRASH time again

What is YOUR Bash Thrash this year?

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

I was about ready to call it "GTG"  but then two days ago it acted up again after about 300 miles of shaking it down.  So now my thrash is trying to find what just about has to be an unreliable wiring connection.

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

I am still waiting on my Vintage Air system for the 69.  It was ordered Jan 18 with 14 week lead time. Fingers crossed.  The rest of the car, except for final dashboard reassembly, is pretty much done.

This brings back memories. Years ago, I found a picture of my car on an engine builders web page under an ad selling Ford long blocks.  They had used MY URL from my web site to post the picture on their site. So, I took the pic on my site and changed it to an ad that said FREE EDELBROCK ALUMINUM HEADS WITH ANY SHORT BLOCK.  Doing that on my site, where I hid the revised picture, also immediately changed the pic on their site to the bogus ad. It stayed on their site for over a month before it got deleted. I wonder how many customers they had to explain it to.  Maybe you could do the same.

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

Good point but they found a picture and used that, not a link.

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

I still to this day come across old technical art I did for customers in the 90's being used by others, Sadly...if its on the web, its fair game to reuse!

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

Simply put, get it running, get it reliable, get it there. It is currently still buried behind the snow blower.  LOL

The more detailed list includes new tires (2010 date code on current shoes), alignment, fix a couple little leaks, maybe fix the a/c, new wiper blades (BASH is in Illinois), and oh yeah, a new air freshener for the interior...

If I fly solo this year, I might have to do something with the speakers.

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

About ready to install the motor and tranny, install the lower dash, hook up a-c ducting, install dash pad, and break in the rings.

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

Ordered new upper control arms, need to buy new front tires, front end alignment, get rid of the pesky shake a 72 MPH from the back.

I may get a new power steering pump too. What I have tends to not work as well once the car has been driven about an hour. .

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

Like Bolted to Floor, I too have a pesky shake at 75 MPH. Only mines in the front and the road surface seems to affect it.
I have new leafs for the butt end to correct a sag. I know if I install them the butt end is gonna be sky high like with air shocks.
5th gear syncro is shot and requires double clutching to not grind. I only need 5th on the interstate (3.55 gears) so not a huge wanna pull the tranny to fix it thing.
Will also have to re-jet the carb for the lower elevations.

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

Changed over to speed density to test an ECM for a future project.
Starts and runs great with a stock 92 5.0L.
Want to test drive it to verify everything okay.
No codes that I didn’t expect.

Probably should take time to wire in my backup lights after transmission swap.
I’ll figure some more out when weather is warmer.
Ain’t doing much until then.

Update on Vintage Air system for the 69…
It arrived today, 14 weeks and one day after ordering it. I was told 14 weeks, so I guess it got here right on schedule.  Now, for the install.

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

Took 4 speed out  relpacing with rebuilt 5 speed with mustangsteve pedal cables and power brake kit,

Took manual drum brakes off front and back replacing with Mustangsteve S197 kit front and back disc off 2006 mustang.
,
Took the 14 inch styled wheels off replacing with my 16x7 wheels and new tires.

Took original seats out replacing with 93 GT seats recovered to look like 69 Mach 1 seats with red stripe.

Took carpet out replacing with new carpet.

Took regular exhaust manifolds off and all exhaust put a set of Hipo manifolds and gonna put the 2.5 pipes on that I had just put on my 66 car before the wreck.

Also put 4 Bilstein shocks on

Rebuilt front end with all new Moog parts left the factory power steering.

New export brace and Monte carlo bar along with new 1 inch sway bar.
Rebuilt front end a new set of roller perches

Put new coil springs on front and new leaf springs on back.

Put a new GT valence on back.

Put  a passenger side mirror to match the driver mirror.

Maybe I should have started with just a body....car not so original anymore!!!!!!
Hopefully I will get it painted this summer.

I bought a new 24 inch alluminum radiator will put it in when car is disassembled for paint.

This a daily driver.

BUT I STILL AINT CUT THE DASH YET LOL

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

Bash thrash

Rebuild AC compressor
install insulation in cabin
install new AC complete unit (Old Air Products)
install dash
install carpet,
install newly upholstered  89 mustang seats, (Need to move the rails from the old seats)
reinstall parking brake,
install the console, (may reupholster it, if i have time)
Break in the rings on the engine,
-put some miles on for any confidence in driving it 8 hours from home.

Not all necessarily in that order, but close.

My bash thrash is getting started back working on the 67.  I'm about to do floor pans and address any other sheet metal issues.

Re: It’s BASH THRASH time again

WYAIT monster got me.  Added cutting 1/2 coil off front springs and removal of that extra 1/2 leaf on the rear springs.  Might as well get the ride height correct before it goes to the alignment shop.
Plus added some LED rear taillights to the list.  When you order Scott Drake LED rear lights for a 69, they come from Mustang Project. All that and the AC install and I am closing the hood on this one.
