Outsmarted myself

Some of you have seen the pictures of the export brace i built.
Well i started installing the hood yesterday, put it on the hinges, brought it down and my son said, "It's hitting on something".

I made the tubes come out too wide and the hood hinges hit it.
Out came the Sawsall and the resulting carnage.
End result

Hurt my pride a little, but chocking it up to another learning experience.
Not sure how i will fix it, but i will probably join the 2 tube together for now and build another later.

I did get my air conditioner installed and finally charged. Blows cold and the Hurricane unit is named appropriately.

No good mod goes unpunished

Life would be so easy (and boring) if we just put them back like they came.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Yep, that sucks, I think we can all say that we’ve “been there” at one time or another.

Great story, Alan....but nobody is laughing, all been there a time or six.  Looking forward to seeing you again, and your car, in Sept.

Whaaat? We all know we be mucho smarter than those Ford engineers.
I'm certain the most difficult type of engineering a car is packaging all those parts under the body.

Re: Outsmarted myself

Been there done that.  It can be very frustrating when you get ahead of yourself and forget to look at all the angle.

Re: Outsmarted myself

I’m sure you’ll have a better design next time.

FWIW, sure did look good.
