    Progress on the engine.

    I had some free time today so I took all the lifters apart and cleaned them.   Installed the valve train and set the preload.   Then I got the intake on and sealed up.    Next project is to try and build an engine test stand.  My son wants to do this on his own, welding and all.  Of course I’ll give a few pointers here and there. 

    I also order the complete kit from CVF yesterday.   Need to get a few questions answered before I order the SoT three link for the rear. 

    I have another two week training class that starts this Monday so it may be a couple weeks before I can get anything else done.

    Thanks.  It’s a small amount of forward progress but it sure did feel like more than that.

    Also helped my son install brakes on my future son-in-laws mustang today.  My son is very close to him and wanted to surprise him when he and my daughter returned from their trip.   It was more rewarding watching my son pick up the skills and do most of the work himself.

    Yes but only because I bought a used motor.  Which I ended starting with a fresh block/rings.  Bought new heads.  Cam and lifters were used.  So they had what looked like oil that had never been changed.   Plus getting all the oil out makes setting the preload a lot easier.

    Did you use brake cleaner on the lifters?   I was thinking of buying a new set but then hear a lot of talk for new roller lifters failure.  So I think Im going to clean my up and reuse them too.

    Yes I used brake cleaner on them.  I kind of thought the same thing.  I knew these lifters were good and were run with this cam and spring pressure so why change them.  Again my biggest reason to tear them down was to relieve the oil pressure inside of them.  It's a lot easier to set the preload when they are not pumped up.
