    Did the 351W and Big Block

    Engines in the 69 Mustang run a 164 tooth flywheel and bellhousing?   

    I see they ran a 11" clutch system.  I have a 164 flywheel and bellhousing and at some point changing to explorer  

    5.0 engine.  I was looking at mid 90s Bronco and they have a 164 tooth flywheel 50oz which would work for my

    application.  I also noticed the Centerforce 11" clutch says there is clearance issues with Cast Bellhousing?  Can

    the bellhousing be clearanced to make clutch fit?

    They may both be 11 inch clutches but I’m pretty sure the early style will have a three finger pressure plate where the newer style will be a diaphragm style plate.  Both should have different bolt patterns for the pressure plate but may have the holes there to be tapped.

    What bell housing are you using with your T5?

    If it’s a stock Foxbody, it is 157 teeth.

    Get what you want, but it must be a 28oz balance.  My 351 is a '70 and it came with no flywheel.  I just used my old 289 flywheel.  It was installed around 1990 and is still there.  Your block plate must match the flywheel.

    I have an adaptor plate for the T5 which allows me to use the stock clutch mechanism and '66 bell.  Many here prefer using a later year bell housing with no adaptor.  I use the stock one that came with the car.

    Note that as the 164 tooth flywheel has a larger diameter (11"), the starter location needs to move further out.  I don't believe a 157 tooth bellhousing can accomodate this different mounting.  Also the block plate is different between the 10.5" and 11" flywheels due to the difference in starter locations.
     

    65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.
