I like the seats. Are those special cushions and covers from TMI?

No, special covers by me. I bought a sewing machine and did them myself. They are sport Mustang seats from about a 91 or 92

Love hearing that you did it yourself, Alan. I did a Mazda RX7 back in 89....had to turn down work anytime anyone saw it. Enjoyable, fun work and very rewarding.

2000 rpm and up, 5th gear. think it even backfired. Doesn't seem like it pulls hard enough when stepping on the gas.
I think i need to check some grounds. Have some odd things.
When i turned the key on, both blinker lights on dash lit up, no turn signals, gas gauge went all the way full. Stepped on the brake and all went back normal. After that was when i took it out and had the miss.
I have been doing a little side work with upholstery now and then when i get some time. Redid all my living room furniture over the winter, couch, loveseat and recliner.

If all of that occurred at the same time I would have to agree that it sounds like bad grounding. Goofy tail light behavior is a good sign but that usually is due to dirty bulb sockets and would have no effect on the engine....you are running EFI aren't you? If so that might indicate poor main grounding between the battery, engine, chassis/firewall. I'm a big believer in bonding everything together with good, clean, solid ground straps.

Regarding bad grounds, the issue with the blinker lights and fuel gauge sounds to me the dash panel ground may be defective. Although I can’t explain why the condition should clear by stepping on the brake pedal. Could be more than one grounding issue.
Nice job on the upholstery, good skill to have.

I agree nice work on the seats.
How old are your plug wires? Maybe they are bad and causing your issues.

Thanks for the compliment,
All in for less than $550, seats, vinyl, new drivers foam and the sewing machine. Doesn't count the endless hours of practice and watching youtube. Made a complete seat cover out of some cheap vinyl first.
After sitting in them for the first time, definetly going to hook up the lumbar pump in them. A little too much upper back support for my taste. Taller than stock seats and i might have to extend them back a little further.

Brand new.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
