New Addition, Not a Ford, but Shelby

After 40 years of always wanting a Cobra, I finally have one in my garage. I purchased it from the original owner who completed the build in 2002. 8700 miles, Guardsman Blue, with Wimbledon White stripes. 5.0 H.O. with T5 transmission, and 8.8 Traction lock with coil overs all around. Very happy with it, and it is a nice addition to my 1967 coupe.

Re: New Addition, Not a Ford, but Shelby

I always remember as a kid and reading the history on these things and the power to weight ratio being absolutely phenomenal.
I think the book joked about there being enough power in the Shelby Cobra to rotate the earth 😆
Congratulations 🎊

Nice. I'm guessing you're on the smaller size, not enough room fer tall fellers. I see more Ford parts than Shelby

There are similarities to a Factory Five, but it is actually a BRM. Boss Replica Motors. A company that operated in Burlington, Ontario for about 20 years or so. I don't know how many they produced, but I am discovering there are quite a few BRM owners in the province.

I am 5 foot 9 and a bit. I do admit they are not easy to get in and out of. Probably 6 foot would be the max. I have developed what I call the "Old Man" method of perching sideways on the seat, then swinging my legs in and out one by one. It is necessary to get your right leg in under the steering wheel before bringing the left in. You need to reverse it on the way out, being careful not to get your leg close enough to the side pipe to burn it after a hot drive.

That’s funny Steve, but that method is the only way I can get in and out of most vehicles. 😱
I used to be 6’5” but the years have taken 5” of that!

Re: New Addition, Not a Ford, but Shelby

Great addition to the garage. Beautiful car and the blues are almost identical. Always loved those and wanted one for years. Don’t k own if I will ever scratch that itch. Time to get some more miles on it.

Is that a radio under the dash?  Can you even hear it?

Re: New Addition, Not a Ford, but Shelby

Very nice!  I was debating on building a Factory 5 back in the mid 90s.  Wife said if you going to do that then you need to sell the fastback. I decided to keep the fastback.

It is an aftermarket CD stereo system with front and rear speakers. He said he only used it twice in twenty years and questioned why he ever put it in at all. I doubt I will use it. Hard enough to converse with my wife while driving as it is.

Very nice!  Perfect colors and powerplant in my opinion. Glad for you!

Isn't that a good thang !???!

Wonder if....... a removable steering wheel would make it  EZ-er entry & exit ?
I think those removable racing steering wheels would be pretty reasonably priced and not to tough to convert.
Cool factor would jump significantly I'm sure at the cruise ins!
When we gonna talk about  "THE STUFF" inside that 5.0 engine.  A smooth idling Cobra is about as disappointing as a date with faultseez !
