Does anyone have a picture of their rear disc brake conversion if you used the style that had spacer plates?
I took off the rear brakes to remove the axles and for the life of me I cannot remember how this thing goes. I should have taken pictures. These brakes were previously installed 4 years ago and had been functioning. It looks like summit racing changed the design because now the same kit has no spacer plates. I have two 1/8" plates that I can't seem to match up. The old kit also did not remove the mounting plate that is attached to the shaft. The new kit calls for removing that plate too. I tried searching internet archives for the old instructions but no dice.
thank you
1966 mustang, 8 inch rear.
So you have two spacer plates. I just don't remember the stack up. Plate + Bracket + Plate + Axle retainer plate... maybe.

What wheels and size disc are on car? Might be time for a newer set of brackets and different set up I went with a Mustangsteve kit that uses the 2004-2005 GT stuff.

Here's a pic of the original kit. You can see from the picture that there are 4 shim plates. However, the instructions make no mention of these and the new version calls for cutting of the retaining plate. I took this off 3 days ago. Had I taken one picture I wouldn't be in this situation. Live and learn.

Bearing retaining plate used to replace the original stamped OEM plate.
Looks like a combo small bearing/big bearing kit (cant tell for sure from pics)? Only use the one that applies to your axle end.

I would think the bearing retainer goes on first. However, the criteria is for the caliper to be centered on the disc rotor. This is checked w/o the pads installed.

I found instructions for your kit.
I didn’t realize it was a “universal kit” in your picture.
Summit usta have destructions on their site…at least I couldn’t find them.
JEG’s has been better than Summit for stuff like this.
I’m lucky I know where my keys are…now where did I place my wallet?

Ah....after looking over the installation instructions (IMHO overall poorly written and unclear):
Bracket #1 replaces the oem bearing retainer plate function:
Step 2: You may need to remove the factory bearing retaining plate that is between the wheel
stud flange and the pressed on bearing. The axle flange plate that is included in this kit
(bracket #1) replaces the plate that is on your axle. If you do need to remove the plate it
will need to be cut off of the axle because it is between the pressed on axle bearing and
the wheel stud flange. If you do not want to cut it off you will need to remove your
pressed on bearing, remove the plate, then repress your bearing onto the axle.
U shaped spacer plates:
Step 5: The rear axle bearing sticks out of the axle housing 1/16” to 1/8”. This is normal. When you install the axle flange bracket (Bracket #1) there will be a 1/16” to 1/8” gap between the flange bracket and axle flange. Use the supplied 1/16” spacers to fill the gap between Bracket #1 and your axle flange, you may need to use stack two of the spacers to fill the gap.

I had found those instructions. There used to be a slightly different kit and slightly different setup that showed how the plates install and didn't ask you to remove the axle mounting plate. I got it taken care regardless.
