Making slow but steady progress:
Took the engine out to be able to paint the engine bay.
Took the rods and the pistons to a machine shop today to have the pistons replaced from cast to forged.
Put my homemade shifter gizmo and the hydraulic clutch on to the transmission.

Made the final(?) assembly of the left side front suspension yesterday.
It was almost like I didn't want to put the front wheel back on as it's gonna hide all this that I put hours and hours into.

And my old faithful rubber mallet that I had for years finally gave up. The accident was unrelated to the pistons installment thankfully.
Also painted the headers and the rest of the exhaust system with some German brand paint supposed to be able to handle 800 degree Celsius = 1472 degree Fahrenheit:

Had to order new pushrods from the US that's not arrived yet, but meanwhile I had some time to detail the engine. That round thingie in the foreground on the left side header is where the wastegate is gonna be.

Yes it has. I also reinforced the firewall and made the top of the inner fenders of thicker than original material together with connecting the a-pillars to the shock towers and the export brace that all together hopefully will make the whole engine bay less flexible than original.

Testfitting almost everything before it's time to put the engine back into the car. Only problem I ran into was the clearance between one spark plug boot and the driver's side header which I'll fix tomorrow.
