IF you have questions about re-curving your distributor.........

https://reincarnation-automotive.com/Duraspark_distributor_recurve_instructions_index.html

As I have said before....re-curving your distrib. is one of THE MOST noticeable improvements you can do on a SBF.

This PRESENTATION  is the one I followed many years ago. I believe it covers EVERY step in detail on how-to-do-it.
From bone stock to modified engines it WILL put a big(er) smile on your mug when you do it.....

This is one thing I never focused on when I was younger and I should have.  Now I’ll get to do it on my phone.   Lol

Re: IF you have questions about re-curving your distributor.........

So, if you don't have a stock distributor and you have an aftermarket MSD electronic distributor and MSD 6A ignition box, then what would you do to that distributor to improve, if possible, your performance? (obviously not experienced with messing with the internals of a distributor) Anything or "just keep your damned hands off it"?

You can't fake faith.  It only works if you are a true believer.

MSD 'BOX" works fine with the mod......I'm think'in the MSD distrib has adjustable internals to control  total timing at different RPM's. (this mod is for us plain folks dealing with a simple factory FoMoCo distrib. and want to 'hot rod' it to make it more performance oriented (thx Lt Dan!).

Like many others I had this "fear-of-the-unknown" when it came to ignition/distrib stuff. After seeing this
PRESENTATION  it explained (so I could unnerstan) by doing this & that will make the ignition 'more' performance  oriented.
Instead of a 'one-size-fits-all' compromise for Granmas and schoolteachers(thx RPM)
Inside.....it really is pretty simple. Unlike the Shivel-laze with the springs & weights on TOP...the Duraspark has them in the BOTTOM (which is more of a pain-in-the-drain hole).

Sal, the blue link in your Post #1 at the top is to an "HTML" page that is a presentation.  It is not a video.  Whatever you are clicking is a different link.  I've never gotten a video from the reincarnation link.  Post the link to your reply again please.

If you flip through the pitchers fast enough, it becomes a video. 😁

Re: IF you have questions about re-curving your distributor.........

I clicked on the link and got a slide show with pictures showing the steps. I didn't understand some of  the text on the pictures, so I would be hesitant to pull my dizzy down without first getting some clarification on some things on the show first. Besides,  it is a Ford dizzy and I have an MSD. Something to look into at a later date.......

Ron…look at post #4.

It’s a YouTube video with a great breakdown, modifications, and reassembly.

Re: IF you have questions about re-curving your distributor.........

Yes I agree 100% did my new stock with a pertronics and runs great with my Sniper in my new motor. This 289 would be a hand full if I had a stick and some butt gears. But stills pulls hard with C4 and 2.80s

Slammed Big Blue, ran over the varmints that messed with the Stang. Now all is good in the NW

Like sourcing another retaining clip?

Re: IF you have questions about re-curving your distributor.........

Hilarious dry humor when he said line up the clip, push it on, then lose it. Hahaha.  I've done that very thing more than once. I put a magnet near there to hopefully catch the flying clip.
