Picked up a 9 inch for a 65/66

I ran across an ad where the seller claimed to have a 9 inch for 70 mustang with 31 spline axles.  Since I need a housing for the 70 fastback that’s waiting to be worked on, I figured I would check it out.  I sent a message and he’s asking price was really low.  So low I started to question what it really was.

It was South of me and I just happened to be working at the Naples hospital the next day, they needed help.  I figured it was a perfect opportunity to stop on my way home to see what this seller really has.  Turns out it’s a banjo style 9 inch housing cut to fit a 65/66 mustang with Strange 28 spline axle shafts.  I couldn’t pass up on this deal.

The 65-66 width works great in 67-70, giving 1” more wheel clearance per side. I put one in a 68 I used to have.  Made 17x8 rear wheels fit perfect.

That’s the plan is to use it.  May sell the 28 spline Strange axle shafts and upgrade to 31 splines.
