I've been without a classic mustang since 2020. I'm on the east coast now and looking at a nice 67 cpe (289, C4). The car has upgraded front suspension from Control Freak (upper & lower control arms, coilovers and strut rods).
Does anyone have any feedback, opinions or experience with that set up? I'll be using the car as a (mostly) daily driver with a winter/foul weather back up vehicle.
Thanks in advance

I considered Control Freak as an upgrade.
Just never did it.
I have Street or Track upper arms (w/ spring perch brackets) and Viking coil over shocks (mount to upper control arms). Have been quite satisfied with this setup.
I see their newer kits have Viking coil over shocks that mount to lower control arms.
Nice

I don't think I'd ever pay the money for a system like that, because other than the ride height adjustability of the coil overs I don't think it improves handling much over a properly set up stock style system. It seems like a decent system, just unnecessarily expensive. BUT, you aren't buying it. So, if the car already has it I'd be fine with it. I wouldn't pay any kind of premium for it and would probably use it as a point to negotiate the price down (not really what I want, car devalued by aftermarket parts, etc. you know the game).

Any concerns with the strut rods NOT having any bushings in them? Without any give (i.e. rubber bushings), do these types of strut rods create a rough ride over bumps, etc.?

No first hand experience, so I can't say. I will say that they are at least articulated and shouldn't bind causing issues or failure. Typically when you remove all the cushion from the suspension the car handles really well, but ride quality suffers. At that point the ride will come down to how good the coil overs are. Is the valving in the coilovers adjustable?

The Viking coil over shocks on the 65 are double adjustable.
Viking doesn’t make a single adjustable.
Viking makes double, triple, and electronically controlled
