I need assistance with the linkage connection on my C4 transmission. The only diagram I can find is showing the gear selection lever on the transmission with the park location all the way forward towards the motor. if that is correct then how does the shift lever connect? Shouldn't the gear selection lever be all the way back towards the tail of the transmission?

I don't know about your C4, but I used a Mustang Shop Manual to change out my 3-speed to a top loader.

Sorry I have one but I cant get up on the lift because the C10 is up there or I would look for you.
Online!
The reference you found on the C4 linkage, was it for a floor shift or column shift setup?

Thank you for your responses and I sorry I was not more specific in my initial post. This setup is for a floor shifter using an after market shifter. This setup 200cid with a c4 came out of a 66 mustang.
i took a couple of picks. Is it either #1 or #2?

I would think to find park position you wouldn't be able to turn output shaft, so if your lever is toward the front and output shaft doesn't turn thats park and if toward the back and output shaft doesn't turn thats park position hope that helps

Output shaft can be rotated by hand in neutral.
Selector arm up it is #1.
