On my 69 coupe, I had ordered a complete hipo exhaust system, H-pipe to tailpipe from Maryland Mustang on ebay. With shipping and tax it was $351.35
I was not 100% happy with the h-pipe, so for the convertible, I ordered a Scott Drake complete kit from Summit. It was $380.68 total price with shipping and tax.
Turns out both kits are 100% identical, down to every detail including the world famous Talladega Turbo mufflers.
So, if anyone is going to be making this decision for a future purchase, go with the “no name” setup from ebay and save $30.
I was really expecting the Scott Drake stuff to be a little different, but this helps prove my theory that SD will put their name on whatever they get the best price on.
Same generic parts.
Correction:
The ebay setup came with donuts, clamps and hangers. The SD kit does not include any of that. They want another $148 for those parts.

Oh man that sucks. I would have done the same thing if I was in your shoes and expected better results with SD.

20 years ago I would have expected better from SD, but not today. You have to remember that the company today has SD's name on it, but is not run by the actual SD. He sold the company, and part of the value of that company was that SD was a premium brand. The purchaser only seems interested in making as much money as possible, and doesn't seem to get that they have ensured that SD's name no longer represents a premium product; it now represents a hit or miss product. BUT, with nothing else out there standing head and shoulders above the typical repro parts this is what we get. Its sad really.

That Stinks! Im sure if you went to a custom exhaust shop to make the pipes it probably cost a Grand.

I really like my 2 1/2 inch stainless steel Magn-Fflow exhaust system. It’s got boom and a little bit of drone which can be fixed. Looks good. Shines good and sounds pretty damn good.
