While ordering a rebuild kit for my front 03 cobra/PBR calipers I noticed they sold new frame brackets to mount the brake lines. I ordered them and they fit much better than the stock ones I had modified. The 03 brackets bolted in place of the stock 65/66 bracket location. I have more clearance now by the upper control arm. I will have to remake the hardlines because the bracket sits lower by about an inch.

You must have REALLY LONG hoses on those calipers!

They are long. The brake hose is just hanging in this picture. The calipers were off to get painted.

My preferred mounting location allows use of stock length hose with less movement so the hose doesn’t get damaged.

I see what you’re saying. Now I need to go look at my calipers again.

I always recommended ditching the factory hoses that have the hard line attached to the caliper end. They can cause the hose to be in a bind. OReillys sells a stock replacement that is all rubber hose. They fit perfect when the frame bracket is mounted on the side of the framerail so the hose attaches facing forward.

I’ll have to look into that. The factory hose that came with the calipers doesn’t seem to bind as much as this braided line.

This is the best place to mount the frame/hose bracket. Left is front of car. The bracket is st the midpoint front-to-back of the UCA.

I think I found a solution. I took the stock cobra brake line bracket and cut the end off so I could rotate it. This rotation of the tab end let me keep the brake hose in a natural state and not twist it to get it to fit the bracket. I’ve turned lock to lock and I think this is my best option with what I have. Not sure a custom brake hose would give me any better options.

I’m barely rubbing the bracket with the 17x8 rim that has 6.27 BS but I added a 1/2 shim so I’m actually at 5.77 BS. I’ll be running a 17x7 rim with 4 BS. If my math is correct I should gain roughly 1.77 more inches of clearance.
I’ll stop here and not make any hard lines until I get the correct rims and tires mounted. I may be able to move the bracket in towards the coilover another 1/2 and if I did that I would shorten the length it sticks out from the frame.

RTM - remember to consider how all this fits with the car on the ground, and the coil-overs compressed.

After all the tire fitting I did I think I should ok, maybe I’m being more wishful than I should be. But I won’t be making the hard lines until I get the new rims and go through the motions again. Neither coil over is bolted down. Just have all the hardware put on by hand. If this doesn’t work I’ll need to look at a custom hose.

RTM - I attached a picture of how the disc brake hard line to caliper hose was installed on my R&C front end.
I also included a picture of the 1" spacer I had to make for the sway bar install. This made it much easier to line up the sway bar to links connection. And, w/o the 1" spacer, when on jacks with the front wheels off of the ground, the sway-bar would rotate up and hit the pulley on the crankshaft. I had originally used a 3/4" thick spacer, but it wasn't enough.

Are you using the stock style hose or something else and this is the 03/04 cobra calipers?
My sway mount is about an inch or more below the frame now.

My sway mount is about an inch or more below the frame now.
My setup is as bought from R&C in 2011.
The caliper flex hoses were supplied by R&C with the kit.

Since I upgraded to the MS cobra brakes I still have all the new disk brake parts that came with my R&C kit. I wonder if the brake lines from that kit would work on my cobra calipers?

RTM - I don't know the answer, but seems like something that's easy to check out.

I’ll dig them out tonight or tomorrow and see if they fit.
