Stupid question, I suppose, but couldn't you chamfer the holes to make the lug nuts work (assuming you end up keeping them)? It looks like that's all that's really missing. Maybe a countersink of the appropriate angle would do the job? It looks like they just missed a machining step at the manufacturer (as KeithP suggested).
Found a photo of what they are supposed to look like FYI

The gouges make it appear the bolt pattern is too small, but the wheels did fit tightly over the studs when I stalled. It went on without issue. Just no taper for the lug nuts to seat into.
It made the steering wheel wobbly uncontrollably.
I reported this to Visa today.

Not opposed to an alloy wheel, but I really like the original Magnums on a 69

If you would have used "flat type" lug nuts instead of acorn type lug nuts would the wheel of worked? Visa dispute people are great even for fradulent type charges. Just have to be patient is all.

No, the wheel gets centered around the tapered seat lug nuts. That wheel felt like the steering wheel was rapidly oscillating side to side and I actually pulled over and got out and checked to see if the lugs were tight. Definitely could not be driven far.

Problem with CJ Pony resolved!
I finally got someone to respond about the wheels. (After filing a complaint with Visa).
They said if I would make the wheels unusable and send them proof of it, they would refund the full price.
I sent them a video of my 20 ton press rendering a wheel useless. Within thirty minutes, I got a paypal refund. Now, ifvthey would just do the same with my new upholstery issue they have been ignoring.

Glad it worked out for you Steve.
I guess you could still use them to hang garden hoses on 🤪

Have you tried the same course of action with the upholstery?

Happy you got that one worked out with them.

They said today they were going to ship me the upholstery piece that was defective.
Not sure what finally got them
Interested in solving the problems.

Since they don't want the wheels back, now you have to deal with them? Do you have any scrap metal recycle places near you, or will you weld them up as yard art? You could use them to mount an old Mustang body like they do in the wrecking yards when the axles are removed.....:-)

I just received a email from Kentucky Mustang having a huge sale on their Magnum500 rims. Mustang Magnum 500 Wheel Kit 5 Lug 1964 1/2 - 1973 (kentuckymustang.com)

Glad you got it resolved Steve. Hard to believe but CC companies sometimes are the only ones that stick up for you. I use mine for almost everything. Don’t even have a debit card. CC are safer and also get travel points.

Steve,
My new go-to place for Mustang parts is Kentucky Mustang. It has the family-run down-home feel that Dallas Mustang had back in the day.
Kentucky Mustang is running a big special on sets of Magnum 500s. $850-ish w/caps and lug nuts. They will stand behind whatever they sell. I would be willing to bet they will open the boxes and send you pics of the lug nut holes if you asked them to.
My go-to guy there is Andrew. I called there looking for a three spoke rim blow steering wheel for a 69-70 Boss 302. They had one in the scratch n dent section of the showroom (simple non-func rim blow insert). I paid 1/3 of the $900 retail price and I got free shipping on a stunningly beautiful new steering wheel.
Give them a try. I now deal directly with them and not thru Amazon.
Paul

I agree Kentucky is good to deal with. When you contact them, you get somebody who knows what they are talking about and who can make a decision.

It's not my intent to start a food fight here, but I've dealt with both Kentucky Mustang and National Parts Depot. While Kentucky Mustang has pretty good service, the people I've talked with there have not all been that knowledgeable nor have they always adequately answered my questions. NPD, on the other hand, has never failed me. They've even gone back to get a part and look at it to correctly answer my questions. And NPD's after-sale customer service is outstanding. Also, the parts descriptions and application information that NPD has in their catalogs and on-line sites are a tier above pretty much everyone else's in the Mustang supplier field.

MS, Glad it worked out for you, it's good to know how CJ pony treats their customers. I won't be dealing with them after the way they treated you. mustang stu
