I think the 17’s I put on mine have a nice balance of tire sidewall and rim.  My sizes won’t help because of all my mods.

Re: who is running 16 inch wheels on their 65-66 mustang?

I have 16x7 steel wheels on my '66.
4.25 B/S
225-60x16 rear,
215-60x16 front..

The reason for the 215's in front is that 225's rubbed the wheel wells even though the edges are rolled.

I prefer the look of 16's over that of 17's.   The proportions are better in my eyes.

My front end is lower than most.  1" lower GT springs. Arning drop.   Distance wheel center to fender is 12".

What brakes do you have front and rear?
What wheels are those where did you get them?

Brakes are manual
12.19" Wilwoods in front
11" SSBC rears - same as Mustang SVO's and Thunderbirds of that era.
The car still rubs on sharp right turns, but not badly enough to do anything about.  I can live with it.

Wheels are NOS style steel from a Stockton Wheel, but you can get them from any wheel maker.

Try this.

Sorry,  The wheels are smoothies.  No one makes an oem steel wheel with a Ford bolt pattern.  I know.  I have looked.  What I wanted was a wheel that takes a dog dish hub cap.

They are on my car and require a 1.25 inch spacer I wanna put some wheels on without spacers and something different.   I have 2 sets of those wheels ...the ones on my car has a new set of tires on them.
