Smaller LED front turn signals.

I wasn’t going g to run turn signals in the front then started thinking of installing a super small led turn signal.  Thinking of placing these in the air inlets in the Shelby apron.

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

Remember, the OEM lights are a dual-filament bulb, one for running lights, one for the turn signals.
If they are ‘super small’, I would just be sure oncoming drivers will be able to see them.

I need to email them and ask but I think o e model is a dual setup but I need to confirm that.  My rear lights are LED’s so front LED lights should work fine.   I think. Lol

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

Did you change the wiring set-up so the frnt parking lights come ON & stay ON.... when you turn on the headlights?
Normally they don't....

Haven’t gotten that far yet so not much thought about it, until now.  Still working on it so I can start it with the key before our son comes home.  Have one more test to perform of the distributor to see if it’s u harmed.  I got rpm readings from it last night and now I’ll see if my test light flashes when connected across the + and - if the coil.   These are test progressive ignition is having me do to see why I couldn’t start it last time I tried on the test stand.

From the picture you posted, that LED fixture has two wires, if you connect the headlight wire to it, I doubt that it will 'blink' with the headlights 'on'.
The OEM bulb is a dual filament, one for running lights, one for the 'blinker'.

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

I was talking bout putting a little jumper war in the headlight switch to make the turn signal come on when the other lights come on. "So simple...even a retared welder could do it !"  (think Geico insurance)

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

I ended up ordering a pair of small LED front running/turn signal lights.  The white running light turns off when the turn signal comes on.  I think they are pretty cool.  This is the only picture I took tonight.

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

Put that eagle on the hood, too. Maybe with a backwards facing Shelby scoop

I don't think I'll do that. lol

What I need to decide on is if I should center the KED in the openings on the racing apron or mount them to the top or bottom of the opening

So you'll be eliminating the OEM directional/running light housings?

No, I'll make a bracket to mount these in the air duct openings in the race apron.  I bought the race apron that does not have cut outs for factory lights.

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

After four different ideas on how I wanted to mount these I can up with this bracket.  I slotted them so I can remove the LED without undoing the wiring.  I'm bonding them to the back of the race apron.  Should be a strong enough mount.

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

Are those lights designed to be mounted in the inverted position?

Like it only rains in Florida at 3-4 p.m. each day.

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

Looks to me that the original turn signal could be made to fit that vent hole pretty easily.

I did not want the stock ones and originally wasn't even going to put turn signal lights on.   Came up this idea and liked it.

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

Looks like a dab of RTV on the new top would be a good idea and maybe a tiny drain hole on the new bottom.

I'll seal the end with liquid electrical tape and then put a piece of shrink tubing over the wires.  Not that I plan on driving in the rain, but could easily get caught in a summer storm which is almost every evening.

Re: Smaller LED front turn signals.

I got the LED lights wired up today.  I put shrink tubing over the wires and once bolted down I will seal the open ends with liquid electric tape.   Happy to say my hazard lights all work as do my turn signals.  I'm so happy I've only come across one wiring mistake.

I did have to redo one of the mounting brackets.  It shifted on me so it wasn't centered anymore.  It is now.  Tomorrow I'll paint the brackets black.
