Positive progress. Congrats

Glad to hear its running better. Sometimes you just have to go with what the engine wants, regardless what's "right". If those two cylinders are now showing proper compression and there's no noise then all is well. Whether or not they are adjusted "correctly" by the book is immaterial once that's achieved.

Thank you for the comment and encouragement. Results of the next test drive will be posted.

Moon4964 – my only caution would be that perhaps you had those lifters bottomed out causing the lifter to going “solid” and actually caused the valves to be slightly open. Now that you backed them off allowed them to seat properly. However, if it runs good at idle and being driven, seems like your good to go

Gentlemen.
The valve adjustment issue has been solved, and the Falcon runs smooth and valve noise free.
I wish to express my appreciation for the encouragement and advice.
Sincerely,
Tom M.

Hi, 6Sally6.
I reside in Raleigh but work out of Schaumburg, IL. Most of the restoration has been accomplished in a rented garage near work.
Since I have been a registered poster for a few years from the time I purchased the clutch cable kit from MS, I am happy to relate my Ford issues and fun stuff on this site. I will post photos of the welding work the kids at Wake Tech performed back then in a week or so. They did great work.(See 'Paint and Body' section)
I have been a Ford guy probably because my Dad always bought a Ford SW, one brother was a member of the Early Ford V8 Club, and another purchased a 1965 Mustang in 1965 that had the Hipo 289 and 4 speed. He taught me how to drive a 4 speed on that Mustang.
My 1964 Falcon is the first car I have restored, having performed all the body work, painting, and most of the mechanicals.

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
