Re: This thing is finally coming along nicely

Nice, I've always liked the look of a multi-carb setup.

Re: This thing is finally coming along nicely

It is my bbq. The 289 block has been hogged out internally. The heads will have same treatment. Intake, carbs and valve covers will be hinged at the rear so they all open as a unit. The carbs will have individual 6” air cleaners that twist to allow for open/closed venting. Notice no carb baseplates. They mount directly to a 5.0 aluminum efi lower intake.  The carb bodies are some I got at a swap meet. Junk parts, two carbs for $10. I stripped out all the soft parts.
The goal is to cook a steak on it before my 75th birthday.  I have had this thing hogged out, but not getting completed for many years.

Re: This thing is finally coming along nicely

Sounds like a pretty cool project. I doubt that there will be another one like that anywhere. What weight oil will you use to "season" the block?

We'll be waiting on pics of that steak sizzling on that birthday. So it's going to take 25 years to complete?

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

Re: This thing is finally coming along nicely

Will my steak have the signature black marks like the 66?

Re: This thing is finally coming along nicely

Make up a grilling surface that brands a Ford oval into the food.

That's a hot idea!  Your brain was really cooking when you thought of doing this.  Hope you're able to achieve your goal ... Sunny and 75 :-)  Love to see photos when it's finished/in use
