Looking for side mirrors and I see the 71 Torino mirrors fit and look pretty good on 65-66 mustangs. What I can't find is a drivers side that is not a remote setup. I don't want to add the remote knob to my door. I would like to know if there was ever a manual drivers side Torino mirror?
I never knew the Shelby mirror was a one sided mirror and when you use it on the RH side it's difficult to see out of. I found one place with some really cool side mirrors but they range from $1200 to $2000 just for a pair of mirrors. I need to find something that's functional because I plan on driving my car as much as I can. I'm not a fan of the factory stock mirrors.

Suggest you look at "
Although they cater more to the "Hot Rod" community, they may have some info on what you're looking for.Offline
Can you put the guts of a right side mirror into the left mirror? I've had mine apart but don't recall what they look like.

I'm not sure. I'll have to google that.

The muscle car version looks pretty good.

Yeah, they look good, but that guy must be smoking something far stronger than anything I ever touched.

No, you cannot do that.
But, you can clip the three driver side cables inside the mirror housing. Pack the housing full of non-hardening seam sealer type pookie and set the mirror position so you can see out of it. I did that on a 70 Boss years ago just to get it to hold a steady position. This was long before those cars became valuable.

RTM…I bet ya know someone with a 3D printer.

I have them on a 67. Converted mine to electric and hid the control in the console. I cannot open the wing window because of the way it is mounted. It can be set a litte further out and get by, but it has to be just right.

Can’t wait to see these in person. I bet they are hard to come by?

I don't know if the Mustang will make the bash this year. I am having triple bypass surgery next week and Emily came down with Rheumatoid Arthritis over the winter. Going to depend on recovery. She is responding well to medicine, but not sure of a long trip yet.
Daughter gets married this weekend, so the surgery is kind of bad timing. Surgeon wanted to do it tomorrow, but did say i could wait another week. I was told by i will not be doing anything other than walking her down the aisle.

I pray your surgery goes well Alan.

I did this to my floppy right mirror years ago on your tip. Works great.

Actually I don't. Lol
Not sure I want to pack the inside of the mirror. I would most likely just install the adjuster in my door panel. As for the vent window, I'm sure I won't use it much if at all with AC. Weather here is pretty much you either need AC or you don't. Just find it hard to believe there aren't more options out there for the 65/66.

My vent windows have not been open in 33 years!

I did open mine on the passenger side when I was teaching my son to drive a stick shift this past Sunday. But I'll have the AC charged up real soon.

If you like those "Modular Aero" mirrors you might like these. some do...some don't. I saw them years ago on Glens 65 5.0 and Billy Walton's coupe, thought they had promise but didn't like the way they mounted. I modified the mount to set on "top" of the door instead of hanging off the side. That tucked them in about two inches and allowed them to be mounted square to the world instead of hanging down slightly. They are electric and the switch mounts on the driver's door in the exact same spot the original remote mirror control went. I put them on cause I thought Jean would drive the car and she didn't like the stock mirrors...too small. After 10 years she still doesn't drive the car but I am very happy with the mirrors. They are mounted back just far enough to allow the vent window to clear and if I had it to do again, I would mount them back just a tad more to allow a better angle for my eyes. As is, I run out of "out" adjustment on the driver's side. They came from 89-90ish Escort GT and the Fox Verts used similar.

Those don't look to bad. I'm trying to avoid any options other than manual adjustments.

These are electric, Bob, butt (TS&T) you can adjust them manually. Like all electric mirrors they will move on both axis when you push on them, and they stay put. Installing them like I have is a bit of work since you need to shape the plastic housing to fit the top of the door and then you need to fabricate a custom mount to bolt it down. With what I see of your skills, no problem. I'm surprised by how few people even seem to have noticed them over the last ten years.
Your car is looking really fine, Bob. Good luck, hope to meet you one day.

BB – I remember when you posted pictures of the mirrors you modified, great job. It is no wonder that people do not recognize that they aren’t OEM, or store-bought units.

Thanks Bob, that was a long time, and many miles ago.
